I’m a little out of practice of the whole “blogging” daily thing, so I apologize for the scattered posts as I get back into the swing of things.
Today probably had to be the epitome of spring/summer time. My family was still in town, so I was able to go on a long run through Santa Clara, San Jose, and the Guadalupe River Trail, with my sister. I am training for the Nike Women’s Marathon in October and it was nice to have someone else to run the flat and relatively barren streets with. Once they hit the road, I dove into my homework and then took a break in the afternoon for lunch.
It’s a bit of a stressful week this week as it is week 10, the week before finals, and otherwise known as crunch-time or hell week. Ok, it’s not that bad if you have started projects and papers ahead of time, which I like to do, so it really shouldn’t be too bad. I’m just being a little dramatic.
Back to lunch. Who doesn’t love Panera Bread? They offer seasonal items each year and I’ve recently become a fan of their Black Cherry Smoothie. It’s made with real yogurt, so I can taste the creamy flavors blended together and don’t feel the sugar rush that I get from other smoothies. While the Strawberry Poppyseed and Chicken Salad did look tasty, I stuck to my gut and went with the Fuji Apple and Chicken Salad, pure goodness.
All-natural, antibiotic-free chicken, mixed field greens, romaine lettuce, vine-ripened tomatoes, red onions, pecans, Gorgonzola, apple chips & white balsamic apple vinaigrette.
I was only slightly bummed that they didn’t ask me for my Panera card number. I have a free pastry and $1 off of a soup, which I wasn’t going to redeem, but I always love earning more points. I guess this just means I have to make a trip back. Shouldn’t be a problem since I have so many different items to test out. Knowing me I’ll end up with the apple salad again.
It was beautiful weather outside, warm air and perfect to sit underneath the umbrella. Afterwards I grudgingly made it back to the house and then off to the library. Believe me, it was tough to enter the house of studying after enjoying most of the day outside in the sunshine, but it’s these mundane tasks and studying that helps me prep for the future.
What’s your favorite item from Panera?
