This October, I am hoping to participate in the Nike Women’s Marathon. That being said, I have started training and today Meghan and I headed out on a long run. There are a number of great running groups set up around the area, many of which start out from the Rose Bowl Aquatics Center. Awhile back, my dad discovered the Pasadena Pacers and since then all four of us have become involved in the program. If you are interested in starting to run or need help reaching a goal of 10 miles, a half marathon, 20 miles, or even a marathon, they have the coaches and routes to help you out. Today was 10 miles and while every “Pacer” ran the same route, it was pretty much Meghan and myself along Linda Vista for 90 minutes.
As the day got warmer, I spent about two hours cleaning my car. It hadn’t been washed in about 6 months and sure needed it. I know, that is quite a long time, but my house at school didn’t have any of the necessary equipment and I admit, I was being a bit stingy. Edie Escape, as we call the car :), sure looks great now!
Sine we are traveling this next week to the beautiful island of Hawaii and will actually be in transit over Father’s Day, we have been spending some quality time as a family to celebrate. Rock of Ages last night (quite a hilarious and well-done movie) and Meghan and I went to hit golf balls at the range with him today. It actually ended up being very relaxing and enjoyable, once I learned how to accept his golfing advice. Ok, maybe I haven’t reached that point yet, but it’s a work in progress. I fully understand my flaws and faults and know that I have issues accepting other’s advice or really being told what to do. It also doesn’t help that I have been practically on my own for the past 6 months and am now adjusting back to life under my parent’s roof. Well, it helps to acknowledge these things so that I can learn for the future.
Dinner and a movie is always a great combination, even when it’s right in your own home. Being the long day it was, we decided to experiment by making our own burgers and watching Despicable Me, which Meghan had never seen.
Who knew that there could be so many different combinations of burgers? Everyone seems to love the In-N-Out classic, but I was quite proud of my new creation: ground beef, shredded cheese (inside & atop the burger), Worcestershire sauce, chili powder, Lawry’s season salt, with grilled onions. What are some of your favorite burger combinations or toppings?
Some other favorites:
Pesto & Basil w/ Tomato
Feta, Spinach, & Sundried Tomato
Cheddar, Bacon, Avocado
Pineapple & BBQ Sauce

And why not finish the night with a little sweet treat? I found these Skinny Cow white truffle mint bars in the freezer (only 100 calories!) and am addicted. It’s practically guilt-free! 🙂
