Live in the Moment

This is one of the best ice cream cones I have ever had, or at least in a long time.  I had the day off today and on a whim, my mom and I decided to take a trip to the beach to browse the stores, walk the streets, people watch and just enjoy our time.  Usually, a trip to the beach, or anywhere really, requires a strategically planned route and itinerary.  Not this trip.  I was caught off guard and delighted when my mom allowed us to indulge in a sweet treat from a store that I had passed by countless times, but never purchased anything from.  I don’t know if it was the guilt of purchasing ice cream that kept me from doing so in the past (not sure why, since I spent a good chunk of my Barcelona budget abroad on gelato and had no remorse or regret), but I was literally a kid in a candy store.  So many options and yep, we even sampled out the flavored cones – “Jimmy” sprinkled cone to be exact.

My mom ordered a scoop of the strawberry cheesecake, which was delicious! I would know since I sneaked a bite when she was paying for our cones.  I on the other hand had a terrible time deciding between my favorites – mint chocolate chip and coconut pineapple. Of course I would choose something different, mostly because it had “fat-free” written in the title.  Note to self: ice-cream that says fat-free, probably isn’t truly ice-cream.  When planning to splurge, go big and don’t regret it.  Just plan to run the next day 🙂

From there we wandered a bit more, swapped stories and made our way back to our car and back to reality.

It might sound like a cheesy story, but why not take a chance to live in the moment and enjoy the sweet things in life? 🙂

Carpe Diem.
