Keep Calm and Eat Your Veggies

So I have an extreme love for sweets (ice cream and frozen yogurt especially), but I do admit, I also have a love for vegetables.  It seems to be more of a recent discovery and with so many different types out there, the recipes are endless.  It’s great knowing that I can find so many delicious recipes out there and really would not mind browsing through food blog after food blog if the time allowed.  Sadly, there is work and school to be done and sitting on a computer for the rest of my life does not actually sound too enthralling .  That’s why I will strategically be blog-surfing when I simply can’t stand whatever task I am working on any longer.  Secret tip – the CTRL+Tab allows you to switch programs quickly and easily. 😉

My aunt gave me a bag a few years ago that said “Keep Calm and Have a Cupcake,” which I will if you don’t mind, but I also discovered this little spinoff including vegetables, from a lovely blog called Peas & Crayons.

I happen to keep the phrase “Keep Calm and Carry On” on a great deal of my things.  From binders to stickers to my blog and even a poster above my bed.  Sometimes I ignore it and others, it helps me do just that – Keep Calm and Carry On.  There is actually a very interesting history behind the poster and phrase, both via website and video if you have a chance to check it out.

During WWII, a number of morale boosting posters were created to display across the British Isles to support the troops and keep the British people inspired. There were three posters created (the first two never made it through): “‘Your Courage, Your Cheerfulness, Your Resolution will Bring Us Victory’, ‘Freedom is in Peril’, and “Keep Calm and Carry On'”.  At the end of the war, a majority of the posters seemed to have been destroyed and it wasn’t until 60 years later when one was discovered in a dusty corner of the Barter Books in London.  The rest is history and I am sure you have seen your fair share of variations.  Check out this website in order to customize your own poster (good idea for parties, gifts, favors, your own personal interest) or browse the thousands of innovative or not-so-innovative spinoffs.

Here are some of my other favorites 🙂

Or if it really is just one of those days.

What you should do is:
Just a little funny bit to end on…my dad seems to be re-watching our home videos.  Absolutely hilarious.  I love watching to see how my family has or hasn’t changed in twenty years (more the latter, which is scary…)
