Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf has probably become one of my favorite ways to start the day. That is of course after working out and if I manage to squeeze it in before rushing off to my next task. I do have a terrible habit of cutting things too close time-wise. I think I learned it from my dad, who is a pro at this sort of thing.
Yes, I know it can also become sort of an expensive habit, so I’ve kept it as a special treat or if I can scrounge up some gift cards. I don’t think I’ve met anyone who doesn’t like the word “free.” Not such a coffee fan? Their menu is packed. Besides their extremely delicious vanilla lattes (I prefer the nonfat variety), they serve up an excellent selection of teas and countless blended drinks (matcha green tea, peach fru-tea, pineapple vanilla, and the good ‘ol vanilla or chocolate). Seriously, who knew there were that many types of tea?
Moroccan Mint, Japanese Cherry, Earl Grey, Tropical Passion, Raspberry Ceylon, Apple Rooibos, Lemon Chamomile, Ginseng Peppermint, Cherry Blossom
When it’s an extra special day, my mom and I like to splurge on a cherry oats bar, which has just enough crunch from the oats and yet crumbles perfectly in your fingers, pairing nicely with your desired drink or atop your yogurt (Chobani’s fun flavors anyone?). Everything made or brought in tastes authentic rather than the generic, overly processed goods that Starbucks sells. I still pick something up once in awhile when I have a spare gift card (remember, just a college student), but am never fully satisfied by my selections.
I was never really a coffee drinker until I went to Barcelona. Not sure why I started at that point because I guiltily was buying from Starbucks, but I did. My go-to beverage was (and sometimes is) nonfat iced vanilla latte simply because it tasted like ice cream and really, who can deny the taste of ice cream? Many of you probably have wills of steel, but for me, ice cream or frozen yogurt is my downfall 🙂
I think I’m going to have to move over to the side of tea side of the menu for awhile. A little too much for me this summer and while some people aren’t all that affected by caffeine, it seems to have made me a little more anxious and possibly increased my acne. I know there are a lot of opinions out there, this one included, but I guess it all depends on the individual. Maybe I’ll lay off it during the week so I can save up for that sweet vanilla treat on the weekend 🙂 Everything in moderation, right?
