I totally had this entire post planned out about Groundhog Day. Buuuuut, I missed it, by about two days. But, better late than never, right? So according to the little guy, we will be looking forward to spring a few weeks early! Here’s a fun article by the Washington Post.
The first prediction occurred in 1887 and Phil has seen his shadow about 100 times, not seen it 16 times, there are 9 years missing, and there is always the question of accuracy. Hey, if a groundhog can predict our weather patterns and it means spring will come early, then that’s fine by me. 🙂
There is an actual town, Punxsutawney, Pennsylvania, where they throw a HUGE celebration for famous creature. There is even a phone number that you can call to get the forecast for that February 2nd. Isn’t that cool? Our 8th grade teacher was obsessed with the whole situation and I totally made the phone call, just to participate to the max. Yes, I was that kid.
Are you excited about spring/summer?
