Weekend Breakdown

Well, I hope everyone enjoyed their Friday and are looking forward to the weekend 🙂 Maybe if you are some of the lucky few with a day or two off for President’s Day Weekend.

Free time anxiety anyone? Strange idea, but I’ve been blessed with some genes that have me going at a mile a minute, constantly thinking, sometimes over-thinking, and always looking for something to do. 🙂 This leads me to President’s Weekend. I was a tad nervous how this weekend would turn out.  Anyone else get anxious about planning something or schedule?  Trying to learn.  That’s what is great about my best friend, Liz.  She teaches me to relax and just enjoy the moment.  Still working on it 🙂

There were no big trips planned, I had no clue who was going to be around, and I “obligated” to hang out with people.  After a great conversation with the ever-so-knowledgable mother, I reasoned, it will be a-okay.  First off, my plans for next year have me pretty far outside of my comfort zone, so if I haven’t figured out how to hang out with the one and only me, I better start 🙂 So, how does this weekend look?

Last afternoon/night started off with some great time in the library (sarcasm, but it needed to happen), then dinner out with old roommates at Aquis, a local and ever so popular Cal-Mex restaurant.  They are popular for their fresh ingredients and industrial margaritas, but I wasn’t such a fan. Then a nice, relaxing night at home.  My friends had traveled home to snowboard so the TV was completely under my powers.  Muahaha.

As for today, the plan is to travel down to Gilroy and later Carmel with a couple good friends from Theta.  I am SO excited.  Time to browse, window shop, the weather should be GREAT.  I’m also hoping to pick up a dress for our semi-formal dance and maybe for Parent’s Weekend next weekend.  Then tonight, I’m catching up with an old friend over dinner and more window shopping at Santana Row.  Not bad so far.  Remember, I have this weird desire to keep my schedule pretty full.

Sunday looks like a solid work day, maybe a bike ride in the morning, definitely a capstone meeting, and who knows what else.  Question of the moment, to watch the opening episode of Amazing Race (a show I dream of being on…my 18th birthday was even Amazing Race themed) or the Downton Abbey finale.  Oh such decisions to be made.  I also hope to whip up a few recipes to share with you later on.

Monday?  Well, that’s a surprise I decided upon with my mom. 🙂 You will have to wait for the preview or recap.

1db6d694bd6e738587d6fa5cc8d7d389 Then, my one and only class for Tuesday was cancelled, so that allows a full day for homework.  Also, we are supposed to expect a significant drop in temperature and possibly some showers, so perfect for working in the library! No, seriously.  I can pound out anything if you have me focused and it’s dreary outside.

As for exercise, my legs have been really bugging me (some outside factors looking into), so I’m trying to lay off the running.  Not my favorite, but hey, it could be beneficial in the long run.  That’s why I took to the pool not once, not twice, but three times this week.  Instead, a lot of walking and biking 🙂 Maybe some aqua jogging if the pool is open.

So, all in all, not bad.  Not bad at all.  As my dad likes to remind me, carpe diem, hakuna matata and enjoy the moment.  Also, wanted to include this picture in my valentine’s day post, but failed.  So, here it is 🙂

How is your weekend shaping up?  Do you like busy or open schedules? Teach me your ways 🙂

  1. I love an open weekend, but sometimes I don’t know how to appreciate them. I actually have Monday and Tuesday off work and my baby brother is coming into town on Monday so I couldn’t be more excited. Yet, I’m up at 6 a.m. on Saturday, even though it’s my first change to sleep this week because my mind is racing with all things I want to get done this weekend (clean house, blog, meditate, read blogs, read books including Blogging for Dummies book, work (I want to get ahead so I have more time to spend with my brother next week), food prep, photo prep, blah, blah, blah.
Swimming can be the greatest exercise. I actually miss getting into a pool. Good for you for working around your injury (is that too strong?) and still getting a workout in. Hope you have a great weekend.

    • I completely agree. Open weekends give the feeling of relaxation, yet I like to pack them to the brim nonetheless. Have fun with your brother! I seem to have the same sleeping issues – late to bed but up just as early or even earlier! I like to make lists of things I want to do and check them off. Hope you enjoyed your weekend!

  2. I totally get anxious when I have too much free time, but I’m always so busy/booked that I crave it. It’s a catch 22. When I do get free time, I don’t know what to do with myself and I often just turn into a lazy blob. haha. Enjoy your weekend! 🙂

  3. Oh my goodness I couldn’t relate to this any more this weekend!! I like a BUSY schedule, like every minute of every day planned. But like you, most of my friends/roommates went home for the weekend so now I am semi-freaking out with all this free time. I’m so glad you are being relaxed about this weekend, I am going to try and follow your lead 🙂

  4. I can totally relate to the free time problem. Aka this weekend I have zero plans and it is freaking. me. out. As much as I don’t love Saturday track meets, I’m not sure what I’d do without them, either. It sounds like you’ve got a pretty solid weekend ahead of you though. I wish we had a three/four day weekend! I’m back to classes on Monday :/

    • SO TRUE! After high school, I had no idea how to fill my time without meets. Honestly, it took me a few years in college to figure out how to handle Saturdays. No race, no cool down. You mean I actually can do something on Friday night and Saturday?

  5. Hey love,
It looks like one amazing weekend. I’m glad we could leave the tv free for you ;). Miss you tons, but already to come back and hear all about your weekend in person – in detail (also hoping to see a cute semi-formal dress!

What's on your mind?
