GREAT Combo, right? Well, I think it was at the time but let’s see how that impacts my sleeping patterns 🙂
While I may not have eaten a ton of greens this past week, I did talk about “green” and “sustainable” living in my capstone presentation. I think that counts two-fold. For those who may not be familiar with capstone, it’s our business school’s final thesis class. Basically you are divided into groups with hopefully individuals from every business emphasis. I was lucky enough to be in the honors section, which was great in that I could rely on my group members to fulfill their part of the paper/presentation/work. Boy, who hasn’t had an awful group project where you are left with all the work? My friend Liz always seems to get stuck with all the worst groups, so she is left to basically create and complete the project on her own.
I was the only marketing major in my group and actually the entire class. The rest of the class consisted of finance and accounting majors, so quite the lively bunch. No really, those guys know how to work hard and play hard.
I guess it would be good to start off with breakfast. I started the day on the later side (waking up at…8:40! yikes!), hitting the gym for a bit of cardio, then back for breakfast around 10:30. I wanted to attempt a Thin Mint green breakfast smoothie but lacked spinach and dropped in a bit TOO much peppermint extract. The resulting product tasted a bit like listerine, which isn’t the most appealing for breakfast.
So, I shuffled through the kitchen to find a substitute, snacked on a banana with almond butter, Chobani coffee bite yogurt, a bit of cereal, and milk. I guess you could say it was a potpourri of snacks for breakfast.
My capstone group met around 12:30 to practice and we presented around 1:45. It was a HUGE success. I normally get very nervous before presentations and it may be partly due to the fact that I don’t usually practice and end up stumbling over some of my words. Moral of the story, practice, practice, practice. 🙂 I seriously have had a great group and it’s been a lot more fun than I had predicted about 10 weeks ago. When we asked for feedback on our presentation, she said she had goosebumps it was so good. Now that’s certainly something to smile about. So, presentation finished, now we just have to work on our 65 page paper. The only daunting part about it is that we have about 80 pages and have to cut information out. Hmmm, actually more difficult than it seems.
Totally rocked JCrew up and down. Got to love that store.
Oh, sidenote, I created some festive cupcakes to hand out for our presentation. We were writing/talking about Avis acquiring Zipcar, so I had red velvet cupcakes (Avis) with green cream cheese frosting (Zipcar)
Between the massive amounts of snacks I had this morning combined with the nerves of presenting, I wasn’t really hungry until about 4. Perfect because I went to study at Starbucks and picked up a snack pack and nonfat blended green tea frappacuino.
There was some shopping at Trader Joe’s in between studying and dinner and more studying, along with a nifty granola recipe I shall share soon. Let’s just say after a few of my baking fails, this one was AWESOME!
Here is dinner – sweet potato fries, TJ’s sliced chicken breast, carrots, broccoli and unpictured dipping sauces. I may experiment with frozen banana “ice cream” but not sure.
I’m really looking for ways to expand my palate and potentially some different beverage ideas. I’ve exhausted my Starbucks options (ok not entirely true) and am looking for some on-the-go options. I saw that Theresa found some new goodies (Califia iced coffee looked divine!) at the Natural Products Expo West this past weekend and am hoping to discover some as well. Also, how do you hear about these events? I really must keep my eyes and ears open for these!
This was actually last night’s dinner and snacks (thank goodness for watermelon) but I had to share my interesting find of Trader Joe’s kale chips. They did have a little nacho kick to them, the sort of nachos you buy at the movies or something. Odd, but slightly addicting. Luckily it was about 300 calories for the bag and I mean it did say kale, right?
Ok, now I’m finished. 🙂 Happy Wednesday!
