I guess you could call this a Thankful Thursday in some sense. It was a stroke of luck that I decided to use WordPress for my first actual blog (Buenviajeaespana) and then for my current blog. I didn’t really use all the features of the blog and not realizing what sort of world was out there. Sure, I’ve considered self-hosting but it may not be the best use of my resources at the moment. Plus, I’d like to learn a little bit of coding before hand so I’m not completely lost. So, for the time being, I’m thankful for WordPress’s features, accessibility and usability. I’ve also been blessed with meeting tons of people on the blogosphere, many of whom also use WordPress. It’s amazing how many people are out there with a similar healthy living and eating mentality, who don’t mind having a little fun 🙂 This gets me to my next point, the WordPress Family Award, which I was nominated for by Becks at Eat Run Repeat
“This is an award for everyone who is part of the “Word Press Family” I started this award on the basis that the WordPress family has taken me in, and showed me love and a caring side only WordPress can. The way people take a second to be nice, to answer a question and not make things a competition amazes me here. I know I have been given many awards, but I wanted to leave my own legacy on here by creating my own award, as many have done before. This represents “Family” we never meet, but are there for us as family. It is my honor to start this award.”
- Display the award logo on your blog.
- Link back to the person who nominated you.
- Share why you started your blog. (This question I included myself) 🙂
- Nominate 10 others you see as having an impact on your WordPress experience and family.
- Let your 5 Family members know you have awarded them. (This way we get the word and celebration around) … I did 6 because it’s my favorite number
California Endless Summer:
I may very well have shared this story before, but why not share it again. I started blogging back in 2011 as a way to document my time abroad and share my travels with family back home. It was a ton of fun to write out the day’s adventures and cultural differences and hear the reaction from friends and family. However, it was very time consuming and sometimes became a hassle. Other bloggers may agree with me that when it becomes a chore, it’s no longer enjoyable, which is NOT the point of blogging. For many of us, it’s not our full time job, it’s an outlet and like any outlet, should not put pressure on you. Anywho, I didn’t really have much to say when I returned to school. I basically went to class, worked out, and cooked a little, so not that interesting. But I’d always had an interest in food and so I started a food blog. I didn’t really enjoy the features of Blogger and wasn’t really dedicating the time I wanted to make it better. Come summer of 2012 and I didn’t know how to spend the summer. I was waiting to hear back from an internship and in the interim, decided to create a food/exploratory blog, pretty much an example of my personality.
Over a year later, I’m still around. There have been times where I blog solely on food (note the last few posts are pretty much all restaurant reviews…) but I also like dedicating it to random finds, my healthy habits, and whatever I see fit. That’s why I try not to set standards on what this blog “is” or “should be.” It is whatever I make of it that day and is my source of happiness. 🙂
The title “California Endless Summer” stemmed from my love for California and the beach. I’m obsessed with Hawaiian and tropical fabrics and have been dreaming about my perfect beach themed house. I truly feel that California is like one long summer, a few “seasons” scattered in between, but where else can you get a 75F Christmas Day or even New Year’s Day? That’s why teams probably love to come play at Pasadena’s Rose Bowl. As I transition back east, I’ll probably keep this blog title the same. I’d thought about creating a new blog, but I love the different followers I have and honestly love the layout at this point in time. I’m also a California girl at heart, so no matter where I am, the sunny skies and laid back (sometimes 😉 ) disposition will be with me. So, while I may not be sharing all about California, stay with me and I’ll try to stay as entertaining as I can.
