So I’ve seen a number of bloggers share what’s marvelous about their weekends, their days, and their Monday. I think it’s a pretty good time to share what’s been marvelous around here lately. As many of you know, I recently transported my life to Manhattan and while it’s only been a few days, I’m pretty excited to call it my home for the next 1+ years. Who knows how I’ll fair with the weather, but that’s another issue for another day. Hey, other people have managed, so it can be done, right?
Marvelous is having your dad around to help set up the most complicated furniture in the world (and no, it’s not Ikea). It’s also great to have him talk you through business strategy and life strategy.
My dad and I started off the trip on Thursday night with our favorite – The Counter (it’s become our tradition) and then had a fabulous time at the Yankee game on Friday night (indulging in the Legends Suite Club) and finally watching the musical Kinky Boots on Saturday night (no really, ignore the title, it’s HILARIOUS!). We also happened to find a clutch sports bar to watch college football. Although USC tanked, it was neat to sit and absorb the atmosphere and there happened to be pretty awesome band playing. We didn’t make it back to the hotel until 2am, so I guess you could say we were quite the party animals 😉
Marvelous is stumbling upon countless new food shops, bars, and hip little towns to explore. Thankfully I have some experienced friends and roommates who have recommended areas to try or are just willing to go out and try something new. Let the fun begin!
Marvelous is walking everywhere. I’m sure I’ll feel differently when the next rain storm or hurricane comes in, but for now, it’s glorious. I love being so close to everything – a grocery store, park, shopping, restaurants. You name it and I am probably just a few blocks away.
Marvelous is living near the water. The other day my dad and I went running along the East River and I was so excited to see the boats and everyone working out along the paths. There were people playing soccer, basketball, and just plain ‘ol jogging.
Marvelous is reconnecting with your friends from high school. I had such a wonderful (and relatively unexpected) time with a couple of my girlfriends from high school this summer. I have to say, they have been there through thick and thin and are truly the most wonderful, reliable, and supportive friends. It was great to be able to hike and grab a quick coffee, catch up on things that were bothering us or even swap recipes and news. We are all going in our separate directions for the next few months but I know they will be just a text, phone call, or google message away. ❤
Tell me my friends, what has been marvelous about your day or life so far?
