Isn’t summertime just marvelous? We have been graced by some beautiful weather where it’s just warm enough to sit outside on the patio and blog. No need to feel chilled and no need to bring out the towels to wipe up all that sweat from humidity. That’s right folks, either it has been a mild summer thus far (with the exception of a few freak rain storms) or this girl is getting used to the east coast. In all likelihood it’s probably part 1 but I like to think I’m getting the hang of things.
One of my favorite spots in Central Park
I have been having these odd flashbacks to fall last year and the feeling of the leaves changing, football season, and the anticipation of the new food obsessions (pumpkin, cinnamon, squash…). It’s the same feeling that I used to get at the end of summer; when the weather is hot and dry, when we go off to Limited Too and Old Navy for new school clothes, when soccer season would start and you could smell the freshly cut grass, and later when cross country meets take up our weekends.
The feeling changes as I age but sometimes I can feel every memory as if it occurred last week. There really is something neat about the seasons changing and wouldn’t you know, this is the second time in my life that I will have actual seasons. Last year is considered a trial run where I was just getting my feet wet. This year I’m ready to roll with a list of things to do and people to hang out with 🙂 One happy camper indeed.
Some of the things I’ve been enjoying lately
Green smoothies and transitioning to green juice
Vacation was nice but it was equally nice to get back into NYC and my morning workout groove. There’s nothing like running alongside a rising sun to start your day.
The bugs whose butts light up. This is probably only exciting for me since these don’t exist in California and I thought it was just something written in movies to make it more magical.
Missing this guy but loving my after work walks around town
Just being outside in the warm summer air has made me feel like I’m experiencing something unreal. There are even days where I feel like I’ve been transplanted back to Barcelona where I studied abroad three years ago.
Finding time to run around oh so historical and touristy spots. Not to mention meeting up with my lovely friend Carrie. Yes, we are oh so attractive in our “get fit” clothes 😉 These are the days where I have to remind myself I actually live here.
Just a little Luke Bryan in Central Park to end my week and start my weekend
GMA was hosting its summer concert series in the park and when my sister told me he would be there, I sure knew how I was spending my Friday morning pre-work.
